Isamu Noguchi

To us, this Japanese-American pre-med student turned sculptor turned furniture designer is an anomaly of obviousness and mystery, not to mention accessibility.  We have had a Noguchi coffee table for nearly ten years through kids, dogs, football game watching (and we are talking the Washington Redskins so you know it took some abuse...) and yet it still stands proudly and somehow humbly.  Noguchi's work "at once subtle and bold, traditional and modern set a new standard for reintegration of the arts."

The Noguchi Museum is located in Long Island City, NY.

In 1947 Noguchi's glass topped table was produced by Herman Miller and is still in production today.
